Afcon Cup of Nations update 31 Jan 2008

Tunisia and Angola played to a goal less draw which allowed both teams to progress to the Quarter Finals stage of the tournament.

Van Heerden scored an early goal for Bafana Bafana and they enjoy the lead for a while until the 36th minute when Camara equalised for Senegal and the match score remained like that until the final whistle

Afcon Cup of Nations update

Namibia held Guinea to a 1 all draw however Guinea manage to survive and proceed to the next round. The Namibians after their shock first match were nervous and they soon overcame that and played splendid soccer in the next two matches. They will return knowing well that they played well and should be a force in the next tournament.

Ghana maintained their form and are also through to the next round.

The Ivory Coast should coast to the next round when they take on Mali later this evening.

Nigeria will have to ensure that play their best soccer this evening against Benin to have any hope on progressing to the next round.

During the previous days , Samuel E'to equalled the recod of 14 goals and has the chance of increasing his lead and also creating a new record in the games that still have to be played

Bafana Bafana take on Senegal and the Senegalese will be all out to win their match. The South Africans have a lot to do and learn so they will also be packing their bags soon to return home.

Cameroon take on Zambia - Afcon 2008 match

Zambia after their three goal win against Sudan will be all out to try and stop the Cameroons in todays encounter. However they will have to contend with Samuel E'to wo will be on top form to break the record of 14 goals in the competition.

The Zambians were made to earn their last win and will not so easy against Cameroon. One of the young Gunners Alex Song made a great difference when he was introduced by Cameroon and will surely make an impact if he plays today.

The game will be a tough one and a draw is predicted.

Egypt the defending champions take on Sudan and the Phaoraohs are sure to have this encounter within their reach and progress to the next round.

Mohamed Zidane has the pace to make a difference against Sudan

Carlin Cup Final - 24 February 2008



Tottenham Spurs take on Chelsea in the Finals of the Carling Cup to be played on Saturday, the 24 th February 2008 commencing at 15hoo GMT

Spurs will be on high spirits after defeating the young Gunners by a huge margin during the semi final clash. Arsenals were completely outplayed and outfoxed by Ramos's band of players.

Chelsea defeated Everton in the other semi final

The final should be an exciting encounter and both the coaches will be planning their strategies to win silver wear.

Guinea beat Morocco 3-2

The match of the tournament certainly as Guinea survive after defeating Morocco three goals to two. Feindouno scored twice for Guinea however he received an unnecessary red card in the 63rd minute. Bangoura scored the other goal for Guinea.

Aboucherouane and Quaddou scored for Morocco and the Moroccans played extremely well unfortunately the Guineans held on the lead.

An impressive performance by the minnows Namibia cased a bit of concern for Essien and the Black Cats. Although Ghana held onto their one goal lead, the Namibians were not disgraced by their splendid performance during the match

South Africa scored in 88th minute for a draw

The Angolan played a superb game and held on to their after a goal by Manucho scored during the 30th minute of the first half.

The South Africans piled on the pressure during the second half and during the 88th minute were rewarded with a goal scored by Elton van Heerden. This goal surely removed some of the pressure from Carlos Perreira and they will have to ensure that they play well during their next two games in this group.

This evening the Ghanians take on the minnows Namibia and thyeh should have an easy game and continue topping the group.

The match between Guinea and Morocco should be an exciting one with Guinea being the slight favourite to win this encounter

Morocco defeat the Namibians

Four goals by S. Alloudi athe minnows Namibia no hope of recovering in their first match at the Africa Cup nations Cup in Ghana.

To make matters even more unsound, Sektioui scored from the penalty spot just before half time with the score four goals to one in the Moroccocans favour

Bredell scored in the 23rd minute for Namibia and the the final score ended 5 - 1 after a goal was scored in the 74th minute by Zerbi

At half time, Ivory Coast and Nigeria were level with no goals apiece
